Free tool

Nobody sends dates. Send a poll instead.

Treader is a free group trip planner that puts every stop on one live map and checks the plan against sunset and public holidays on your dates. Made in Canada.

Propose a few date ranges for the trip and send one link to the group. Friends type a name and tick every range that works, with no account and no app. You make the trip on the dates that win.

Set up the poll

Name the trip and add the dates you could go. The preview is the page your friends open. Nothing is sent from here: the poll is created in your account, and then you send the link.

Dates you could go

A single day works too: leave To blank. Up to 10 options.

What your friends see

When can everyone go?

Your trip

Pick a date and it shows here the way your friends will see it.

This makes a free Treader account, or signs you in, and opens your poll there with these dates filled in. Create it and the link is ready to send. Your friends vote without an account.

01

How a date poll works

A group trip usually stalls on the first question: when. A poll turns that question into one link. You propose the dates you could go, and each person answers once, in their own time, with no thread to scroll back through.

  • Propose up to 10 date ranges. A single day works too.
  • Send the one link in the group chat. It opens a plain page with no sign-in wall.
  • Each person types a name and ticks every range that works. Ticking nothing is an answer too: none of these work.
  • You see how many people can make each option, and who. The option with the most is marked as leading, and a tie goes to the range that starts first.

02

What your friends need

A name. That is all the voting page asks for: no account, no app and no email address. Coming back to the link in the same browser changes that person’s answer; it does not add a second one.

  • Up to 50 people can vote on one poll.
  • A different browser or device counts as a new voter, so ask people to answer once.
  • Until the trip is made, you can remove a stray or joke vote by its name.

03

From the winning dates to a trip

When the answers are in, choose Make the trip beside any option. The count is a guide and the call is yours. Treader makes the trip on those dates and closes the voting, and the same link now opens the trip, so the friends who voted can join it and plan beside you.

  • Friends join as editors while your plan has an editing seat open: 1 on Free, 3 on Pro, 10 on Discovery. After that they join as viewers.
  • An option longer than your plan’s trip length is trimmed to it: 7 days on Free, 30 on Pro, 60 on Discovery.
  • Joining a trip is free for everyone, whatever plan the organiser is on.

04

What the poll does not do

It asks one question, when, and these are its limits.

  • The organiser needs a free Treader account. Friends do not.
  • A poll cannot be edited once it is created. Delete it and send a new link; the old link stops working and its votes go with it.
  • It chooses dates, not times of day.
  • Treader does not message your friends or tell you when someone votes. You send the link, and you open the poll in your account to see who has answered.
  • An account holds up to 20 polls, decided ones included.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What people ask before they plan a first trip. The docs go further.

Read the docs
01 Do my friends need an account to vote?

No. The link opens a public page that asks only for a name. Nobody signs up unless they choose to open the finished trip.

02 Is the date poll free?

Yes. Date polls are on every plan, Free included, and voting never costs anything. The organiser needs a free account, and a trip on the Free plan holds up to 7 days.

03 Can someone vote twice?

Their browser remembers their answer, so coming back to the link changes it. A different browser or device counts as a new voter, and the organiser can remove a stray vote by its name.

04 Can I change the dates after I send the link?

No. A poll cannot be edited once it is created. Delete it and start a new one, then send the group the new link.

05 What happens after the dates are picked?

You choose Make the trip on the option you want. Treader creates the trip on those dates and closes the voting, and the poll link becomes the way onto the trip: anyone who opens it and signs in joins as an editor while a seat is open, then as a viewer.

06 Is this a Doodle for trips?

It works the way a scheduling poll does: you propose options and people tick the ones that work. This one is built for trips, so the options are date ranges, and the winning one becomes a trip your friends can join, with every stop on one map.

Pick the dates together, then plan the trip.

Start with a poll, make the trip on the dates that win, and put every stop on one shared map. Free for trips up to 7 days.
