Herding a group into a trip usually dies at step one: nobody replies with a date. A date poll fixes that: propose a few date ranges, send one link, and everyone ticks what works, no account needed.

Start a poll

  1. 1 Open My Trips and tap Date poll next to New trip. Or start a new trip and, before you pick any dates, tap Ask everyone with a date poll under "Not sure when?". It carries over the name and place you typed.
  2. 2 Name the poll, add a place if you have one, and enter your date options. A single day works too: leave the end date blank. Add another option takes you up to 10.
  3. 3 Pick a Voting closes date if you want one, then tap Create and copy the link. The link goes to your share sheet, or the clipboard where there is none. Copy link on the poll gets it again later.

How voting works

The link opens a plain page with no sign-in wall. A voter types their name, ticks every date range that works for them, and taps Save my dates. Leaving everything unticked is a real answer too: it means none of these work. Coming back in the same browser updates that vote instead of adding a second one.

Back in Your date polls, each option shows how many voters can make it and who they are. The option with the most votes is highlighted as the leader, and a tie goes to whichever range starts earliest.

Make the trip

Tap Make the trip next to any option, leader or not. The vote count is a nudge, the call is yours. Treader creates the trip on those dates and closes the poll to new votes. A long option is trimmed to your plan's trip length: 7 days on Free, 30 on Pro, 60 on Discovery.

The link keeps working and now shows "Decided" with an Open this trip in Treader button. Visitors sign in or make a free account and join as editors while your plan has an editing seat open (1 on Free, 3 on Pro, 10 on Discovery), then as viewers. Anyone who joins this way and has never paid Treader gets 25% off their first month when they move to Pro or Discovery on a monthly plan, with no code. Send the link to the group again.

Tip

Until the trip is made, tap the × next to a name under "Voted" to remove a stray or joke vote. It removes every vote under that name. A poll cannot be edited once created: delete it and start a new one, which also deletes its votes and switches off the old link.

Limits

  • Up to 10 date options per poll, and 20 polls per account, decided ones included.
  • Up to 50 people can vote on a single poll.
  • Poll names and places run up to 80 characters, voter names up to 40.

Common questions

Do people need a Treader account to vote?
No. Voting happens on a public page with just a name, and nobody signs up unless they tap through to open the finished trip.
Can someone vote more than once?
Their browser remembers their vote, so returning to the link updates it, but a different browser or device counts as a new voter.
What happens once the trip is made?
Voting closes, and the poll link becomes a way onto the trip: anyone who opens it and signs in joins as an editor while a seat is open, then as a viewer.
Can I change the date options after people start voting?
No, a poll cannot be edited once created. Delete it and start a new one, then send the group the new link.
