Guided tours are six short walkthroughs that play over the live app. To replay one, open Help and resources at the foot of the main menu, choose Guided tours, and tap its row. None start on their own: a new account meets one Welcome to Treader card, offering to start a trip or look around first. How Treader works covers the trip these tours show.
Where to open a tour
Guided tours sits under Help and resources in the main menu once you are signed in, in Settings under Help, at the foot of the Getting started card, and in Cmd-K on a computer (phones have no command palette). A wide screen spotlights the real element in place; a phone plays a bottom sheet you swipe through. Progress saves to your account, so the ticks in the hub and any offer you waved off follow you to your phone.
What each tour covers
Take The essentials first: it is the only tour that never offers itself later. A step about a Pro or Discovery feature carries that plan's badge and still plays in full.
- The essentials (5 steps): the main menu, search, your itinerary and Scout, the four surfaces every trip runs on. Find your way around covers the same layout in more depth.
- Build a real day (5 steps): reordering, Optimize the route (on Pro, $4.99 CAD a month), journeys, the insight rows for the day, and the Notebook.
- Scout, properly (4 steps): what Scout reads, how it grounds an answer, and where you tune it. Meet Scout goes deeper.
- Travel together (5 steps): invites, live presence, comments on a stop, what changed while you were away, and the Board.
- On the road (4 steps): running today, weather that acts (Pro), the offline pack (Pro) and fuel, planned (Pro).
- Beyond the trip (4 steps): spots, the Browse feed, Treader Docs and the Travel Data vault (on Discovery, $9.99 CAD a month).
When a tour offers itself
The first time a trip of your own reaches three stops while you plan (flights and other journeys aside), a card named Three stops in floats over the map with a note from the team, plus a Pro line only free accounts see. Take the 60-second planning tour plays Build a real day; Keep planning closes the card. Either way it does not come back.
- An unwatched tour can also reach you as a one-line pill, at most once per page load and never in the session that made your first trip.
- The most timely tour wins: On the road when the open trip has a day dated today, then Travel together on a trip shared with you, Beyond the trip in Browse, Scout, properly after you ask Scout something, and Build a real day at three stops.
- Take the tour plays it; the X retires that offer for good, and the hub keeps the tour.
How this differs from Getting started
Getting started and Guided tours are separate: the checklist tracks what you have done, tours track only what you watched. Guided tours stays in the menu for good; Getting started stays until you press Finish on the completed checklist. Its first row is Create your first trip.
Tip
Closed the founder card or waved off a tour pill by accident? Nothing is lost: every tour still sits in the Guided tours hub, ready to play again.
Common questions
Common questions
- Can I watch a tour again after I have already seen it?
- Yes. Every tour in the Guided tours hub plays again from the start each time you open it, and rewatching never changes anything in your trip.
- Do the tours show features I cannot use on my plan?
- Yes, on purpose. A step for a Pro or Discovery feature carries that plan's badge and still plays in full.
- What happens if I close a tour partway through?
- It closes and your panels go back the way they were. Nothing in your trip changes, and the tour still counts as watched.
