Scout is Treader's AI trip assistant, the half of planning a trip with AI that works from real places. Ask for somewhere to eat, see or do, and it searches near your plan and answers with places it found, never invented ones. Ask for a schedule change, and it proposes the edit and waits for your tap.
Where it is
- On a computer, Scout is the Chat tab in the right panel, headed "Scout · Itinerary Helper". The ] key shows or hides the panel.
- On a phone, it is the third button in the bottom switcher, named after the panel tab open last: usually Scout.
- Type a question into Cmd/Ctrl+K and pick Ask Scout to send it straight to the chat.
What it does
A new thread opens with a free greeting. Ask for a place and Scout searches near the day you're viewing, then answers with up to 5 cards. Ideas parks a pick in the Ideas pen; + Add to trip puts it on the open day.
Ask for a schedule change and Scout lists it under Proposed changes: a new time or length, another day, or off the plan, up to 6 at once. Nothing moves until you tap Apply changes, and Undo reverses it. Scout cannot add a stop this way; adding is your tap on a card.
Where else Scout shows up
- Paste a link, screenshot, PDF or written itinerary into Paste anything and Scout reads it for one message; a Day 1, Day 2 list is read on your device for free.
- A same-day connection at one airport puts a Layover card on the landing stop, with an Ask Scout: lounges, terminals, food button.
- The Notes view has its own Scout sidebar for the open note; it can't search for places or change the trip.
- Ask Scout for ideas, Ask Scout for a day and a Trip check row's Ask Scout each send a written question.
What each plan gets
- Free includes 15 messages a month. Pro, $4.99 CAD a month, raises that to 100 and lets you switch on Apply changes automatically in Settings, under Scout & prefs. Discovery, $9.99 CAD a month, has no monthly cap, within fair use.
- Every plan runs the same AI model. On Pro and Discovery, Scout also double-checks its picks and drops or swaps one that is closed or a poor fit.
- Paid plans also cap the pace at 20 messages a minute and 500 a day, Discovery included. Free allows 5 a minute.
- On Free and Pro the count shows under the message box. At the limit, the box turns into an Upgrade to Discovery card until the month resets.
Who sees your chats
Each day of each trip has its own thread, kept in this browser only: it never syncs to your other devices or reaches anyone on the trip. A viewer on the trip can chat with Scout but can't add its picks or apply its changes.
Common questions
- How many Scout messages do I get a month?
- Free includes 15, Pro 100, and Discovery has no monthly cap, within fair use. The count resets at midnight UTC on the 1st, the evening before in Canada.
- Does Scout make up places?
- No. Every card is a place a real search returned; anything else is dropped before you see it.
- Can Scout change my trip without asking?
- Only on Pro or Discovery with Apply changes automatically on. Otherwise nothing moves until you tap Apply changes.
- Do Pro and Discovery get a smarter Scout?
- No. Every plan runs the same model; paying more buys messages and a second check of the picks.
- What uses a Scout message?
- Each message you send, the Ask Scout buttons, a Notes sidebar question, and any paste except a Day 1, Day 2 list. A reply that fails is free.
Tip
Undo lasts only until you reload, and only the newest reply's changes can be applied. Set your pace in Make Scout yours, then ask better with Get better answers from Scout.
