Import a ChatGPT or Claude itinerary, a booking confirmation or saved places from Google Maps into Treader, then review what goes onto the trip. Day-by-day text and saved-place exports use no Scout message. Scout reads other text, links, PDFs and screenshots, and the review sheet lets you choose what to add.
Open it
- In the itinerary, open Add stop and choose Paste anything.
- On the board, the Ideas pen has a Paste button. With the pen focused, Cmd+V or Ctrl+V does the same thing.
- Drop a PDF or an image anywhere on the planner, or drop a link or text onto the Ideas pen.
- On Android, with Treader installed to the home screen, share a booking email, PDF or screenshot from any app to Treader. iPhone does not offer that share target, so copy and paste instead.
What you can paste
- Text: the body of a confirmation email, a list of places, a message from the group chat.
- A day-by-day itinerary from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini: paste the whole answer. The "Day 1", "Day 2" headings and the bullets under them are read on your device, each stop lands on its day, and no Scout turn is used. Signed out, the same paste works at /ai-itinerary.
- Straight from Claude, no paste: add the Treader connector to Claude once (how), then ask Claude to make the trip from the itinerary it wrote. The trip lands in your account with every stop placed.
- A link on its own: Treader fetches the page and reads its text. A blog post with a list of restaurants works well.
- A PDF: an airline or hotel confirmation, up to 6 MB. Add it with Add a PDF or screenshot or drop it on the sheet.
- A screenshot: JPG, PNG or WebP. The image is shrunk on your device before it is read.
Cost
An itinerary with Day headings and listed stops, or a Google Takeout JSON/CSV import, uses no Scout turn. Other text, links, PDFs and screenshots use one turn, the same as one chat message. Free gets 15 turns a month, Pro 100 and Discovery unlimited within fair use. Files that do not match a supported format are refused before Scout reads them.
Turn an AI itinerary into a map
Use Day 1, Day 2 headings with a city, and put one named place on each bullet or numbered line. Include at least two places across the itinerary. A name such as "Louvre Museum, Paris" gives the map more to work with than "visit a museum". Here is a two-day example:

- 1 No account yet? Open the AI itinerary importer, paste the Day headings and place lines, and check the days and stops in the preview. Try a sample fills an empty box if you want to see the format first.
- 2 Press Map these stops. Check the names, towns and pins. Use Change to search for a different match; use Keep it only when a place flagged as far from the others is the one you meant.
- 3 Press Save it and edit the days to continue through sign-up. Confirmed matches go onto their days; a place not found or left unconfirmed goes to Ideas. Leave it out skips a place entirely.
- 4 In an existing trip, use Add stop, Paste anything, then Find what is in it. Review each row and its day before pressing Add N to the trip.
The importer reads place names and the times the chat gave them: a clock time, or a label like “Lunch” or “Late afternoon”, becomes the stop’s start time when the day has room, and a stop with neither follows the one before it. Visit lengths are Treader’s defaults, so after saving, set your own lengths, booked departures and trip dates, then check the travel time and timing conflicts. Longer itineraries
Free keeps up to 7 days on the trip. Stops from later days wait in Ideas, and the import sheet explains what was kept. Pro supports up to 30 days and Discovery up to 60. In an existing trip, a stop whose day does not exist also goes to Ideas; add the day and move it across when you are ready.
If your itinerary is missing stops or has the wrong place

Ideas is the holding area on the board, available on a tablet or computer. A missing pin still needs a place before routes can use it: search for the exact name, then move the stop onto its day. For the full planning method, read Plan a trip with ChatGPT or Claude.
Import Google Maps saved places
- 1 In Paste anything, use the file button to choose a Google Takeout Saved Places.json file or a saved-list CSV.
- 2 The file is read on your device with no Scout message. The sheet accepts up to 200 places per import and tells you if later places were left out.
- 3 Review the rows. They start in Ideas; keep that destination or choose a day before adding them.
- 4 Coordinates in the export are kept. A place without coordinates is looked up when added, so check the pin before arranging the day.
This imports a saved-place export, not a Google Maps directions route. It does not keep the list in sync with Google Maps or read a private saved list from its share link. You can arrange the imported places into days using Shape your days.
Tick what lands
- 1 For text, press Find what is in it. The sheet lists the items it read, each with a tick box. A saved-place file goes straight to this review; a PDF or screenshot is read by Scout first.
- 2 Every row has a Where it goes select. Flights and stays pick their day from their own dates. A place goes to the day the source named, otherwise to Ideas on the board. A receipt goes to Budget.
- 3 Untick anything you do not want. A row with no day can still be filed in Travel Data on Discovery.
- 4 Press Add N to the trip. Each row then reports where it went, or why it was skipped.
- 5 Change your mind? Undo removes the whole batch, records and file included. Paste more keeps the sheet open for the next one.
Flights arrive as a linked pair, takeoff and landing, the same as a flight logged by hand, and the landing reads as the airport rather than whatever business sits nearest the runway. Places are grounded against the map. On Pro, full place detail brings each place's opening hours along when it lists them, so the stop can warn you if it will be shut when you get there. On Free a pasted place lands on its spot without them.
Money on a booking
When a booking names what you paid, that amount becomes the cost of the stop it created, so the trip budget counts it. A bill with no booking attached, say a restaurant receipt, becomes a receipt under Trip Hub, Budget, Receipts. A price in a different currency from the trip stays a receipt too, so the budget is never quietly misstated.
Pasting the same booking twice
Reading a confirmation a second time does not double the trip. A flight, stay or Travel Data record that is already there is recognised and its row says so: Already on this trip, Already in Travel Data, Already in the budget.
On Discovery: bookings file themselves
Flights and stays come back as rows on Discovery only. Free and Pro see the count ("Found 2 flights and 1 stay") and the places, receipts and the rest. On Discovery the sheet also shows a Save bookings to Travel Data box, ticked by default: the flights and stays become records in your vault, which is where flight watch and claims read them. Under it, Keep the file in Documents and link it stores the PDF or screenshot you pasted and links it to every record that paste created, so the Records tab can open the source with one tap.
Tip
A good first import on any plan: a two-day itinerary with named places. Review the pins, save the days and check the timing. On Discovery, try a booking confirmation next: you choose which flights and stays land on the trip and which records are kept in the vault.
Common questions
- Can Treader read a booking confirmation?
- Yes. Paste the email text, a PDF or a screenshot into Paste anything and review the places and amounts it finds before adding them. Discovery also lets you add flights and stays as booking rows and file them into Travel Data. On Free and Pro, flight and stay counts are shown without those booking rows.
- Does Treader connect to my email inbox?
- No. Nothing reads your inbox. You paste or share the confirmation yourself, and only the rows you tick are added. Discovery adds a forwarding address you can send confirmations to, which is the same thing in the other direction: mail you push to us, never a mailbox we read.
- Is Paste anything free?
- Yes, on every plan. Day-by-day itineraries with listed stops and Google Takeout JSON/CSV imports use no Scout message. Other text, links, PDFs and screenshots use one message from your allowance. Flights and stays as booking rows, and filing them into Travel Data, are part of Discovery.
- Can I paste an itinerary ChatGPT or Claude wrote?
- Yes. Use Day 1, Day 2 headings with named places on bullets or numbered lines, then paste into the AI itinerary importer or Paste anything on an existing trip. Parsing this format uses no Scout turn. Review the matches: confirmed places go onto their days, while missing places, unconfirmed far matches and days beyond your plan's limit go to Ideas. A time the chat gave a stop, such as “Lunch” or “2:00 PM”, becomes its start time when the day has room. The public importer lets you preview and map the stops before signing up to save them.
- Can Claude put a trip into Treader without a paste?
- Yes, with the Treader connector for Claude. Add it once from Claude's connector settings (the steps are at /claude) and approve the connection. Then ask Claude to make the trip from the itinerary it wrote, or to check a trip you already have. It can read your trips and make new ones; it cannot change or delete a trip. Free on every plan.
