Put the trip in your calendar

Subscribe your calendar app to a trip and every stop, with its time, address and notes, stays in step with the plan. Or download the itinerary once as an .ics file.

Some people live in their calendar, and a trip that only exists in a planner is a trip they forget to look at. Treader offers two ways in: a live feed your calendar app subscribes to, which follows every change to the plan, and a one-off file for the calendar you cannot subscribe from.

Subscribe once, stay in step

  1. 1 On the trip, open Share in the top bar and choose Share with followers to open the Share trip panel.
  2. 2 Under In your calendar, press Turn on. Treader makes a private link for this trip.
  3. 3 On a Mac, iPhone or in Outlook, press Open and the calendar app offers to subscribe. In Google Calendar, press Copy, then choose Other calendars, From URL, and paste the link.
  4. 4 Every stop appears as an event with its time, address and notes. Change the plan and the calendar follows on its next refresh. Calendars refresh on their own schedule; Google can take up to a day.
  • The feed carries the itinerary only: stops, times, addresses and notes. Never the budget, costs, receipts or the album.
  • Anyone with the link can read the itinerary, so share the link as you would the trip itself.
  • Turn off stops the link at once. Subscribed calendars stop updating and the address stops working.
  • Only the trip owner turns the feed on and off, and there is one feed per trip. Free on every plan.

Download it once

The Share popup also has Add to calendar, which downloads the same itinerary as a standard .ics file. Open it and your calendar imports the events. This copy does not update when the plan changes; it is the right choice for a calendar that cannot subscribe, or for a plan that is finished.

Tip

The calendar shows times the way the plan prints them, local to each stop, without adjusting for the time zone your calendar is set to. Read the times as the ticket would print them.

Common questions

Can I add a Treader trip to Google Calendar?
Yes. Turn on the calendar feed in the Share trip panel, copy the link, and in Google Calendar choose Other calendars, From URL, and paste it. Google refreshes a subscribed calendar on its own schedule, sometimes only once a day.
Does the calendar update when the trip changes?
A subscribed feed does, on the calendar app's next refresh. A downloaded .ics file is a snapshot and does not change.
