Plan a trip

Set a trip budget

Part of Pro

A budget is a single ceiling for the trip, tracked against what the plan actually costs. Stops with known prices count exactly; the rest come in as ranges marked with ≈ so you always know which numbers are facts and which are guesses. Budgets are part of Pro.

Set the ceiling

  1. 1 Open the Budget row in the itinerary panel header.
  2. 2 Enter the total for the whole party. The currency comes from your Units setting and stays fixed for the trip.
  3. 3 Watch the row. It reads under, getting close, or over as the plan changes, and its popover breaks spending down day by day.
Budget$2,340 to $2,780 planned of $3,000Where it goesTue 12$780Wed 13≈ $940 to 1,180Thu 14$620A cost you type always beats an estimate.
The running read, and the popover that shows where the money goes.

Price individual stops

Open any stop and give it a cost. A price you type always beats an estimate, so the total firms up as you actually book things.

Who sees it, who can edit it

  • Anyone with edit access can adjust costs and the ceiling, whatever plan they're on. The budget belongs to the trip.
  • Money is private. Published trip pages never include the budget or any stop cost.
  • Scout knows the remaining room and leans toward suggestions that fit it.
